Nurturing Leadership at Selwyn House School
Friday, 14 February 2025

Learning from alumni role models, who exemplify leadership in their lives is a powerful way to inspire and help  the girls to envision and work towards their own leadership futures. At Selwyn House School, fostering the confidence to take on leadership roles is a key priority. We would love to hear your stories about your own experiences in leadership, both at school and beyond. Click here to share your journey with us.

The 2025 school year has kicked off with Leadership Week, a week designed to support the Year 8 students to take on their roles a school leaders.

The girls embodied curiosity, courage, resilience, and inspiration throughout the week. Each student took part in various activities, experiences, and learning opportunities that reinforce the School's belief that leaders are made, not born. The Selwyn House School Leadership Programme continues throughout the year, empowering each student to develop leadership skills that will support her to thrive both at Selwyn House and in all aspects of life.

Some highlights included building leadership connections, hearing from insightful guest speakers, and stepping out of comfort zones with fencing and dance. The girls had the opportunity to reflect on personal traits that support leadership, and explored strategies for organisation, communication, and management. The week wrapped up with an amazing Leadership Carnival. The Carnival was completely organised by our Year 8 students for the Junior School, and empowered them to start using these leadership skills right away. The girls will continue to build on these skills throughout the year with support from staff and the Selwyn House School Community.
