Pre-school Envirogroup

Look at what the Pre-school have been doing in Envirogroup this term.

Throughout this term we have been steering towards becoming a rubbish-free environment. This is a step that aligns with the principles of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP). It is also part of the Enviroschools, and Te Whāriki, the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum.

A key part of PYP that we are emphasising through this initiative is helping our Tamariki to recognise their ability to care for the environment around them. Our tamariki are demonstrating this as we reduce our waste together, by using reusable containers and following sustainable practices.

Te Whāriki helps to foster a sense of belonging that our tamariki feel through contribution, and responsibility for te ao (the world) around them. This initiative is helping our tamariki to develop the values of environmental stewardship, responsibility, and respect for their surroundings.
