A Family Tradition
Friday, 1 December 2023
On November 2nd, the Year 7s and Year 8s held their annual Grandparents and Special Person's Day. The girls showed their special guests around the school and proudly shared what they had been up to this year.

Nuria Boix-Macfarlane, who is currently in Year 7, is a fourth generation student at Selwyn House. Her mother, Louise Macfarlane (Peer Year 1990), her grandmother, Susan Macfarlane (Peer Year 1956) and her great grandmother, Alison Macfarlane (Peer Year 1934), are all alumni of Selwyn House.

Nuria invited her grandmother, Susan, to be her special guest for the morning. Susan was taken on a lovely trip down memory lane with her granddaughter and was treated to displays of both Nuria's and the Year 7 and  Year 8's work.

Susan very kindly brought along a framed school photo from 1932 to be donated to our archives. Nuria's great grandmother and Susan's mother-in-law, Alison, is pictured in this photo.

It was wonderful to meet Susan and hear some of her school day memories. It was very special too to hear about the role that Selwyn House has played in her family for four generations. We would love to hear from other Selwyn House families who have been keeping the tradition going!
