Philippa Graham (née Flower - Peer Year 1953) a retired writer, historian and trained librarian, has been an active member of the Alumni Community and Committee for many years. Her service to this community is highly valued. Philippa has been connected with Selwyn House School her whole life, her mother Laura Flower (née Loughnan - Peer Year 1930) was also an alumni. Philippa enjoys learning and loved the curriculum available when she attended the school. She remembers that each term there would be a set book to read, a poem to learn along with some religious studies and a psalm to learn. There was also a focus on music and the arts, learning about a different composer and artist each term using the Medici book of artists. After her time attending Selwyn House School, Philippa attended Teschemakers for her secondary education, and then went onto study a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Canterbury majoring in both History and Geography. Philippa raised four daughters, on the South Canterbury Farm where she and her family lived. All four of her daughters also attended Selwyn House School. Her enthusiasm and dedication to the school and Alumni Community all these years is very appreciated. Thank you so much Philippa for sharing some of your memories with us all.
