We had the opportunity to talk with Kate about her time at Selwyn House and how some of her experiences from this time have stayed with her into adulthood. Kate credits her time at Selwyn House for supporting her to become curious about the key qualities required for effective leadership, and where she began honing these skills for herself. As a Year 8 student, Kate won the Lapthorn Leadership Cup. This win was extremely special to Kate, building her self confidence and opening her eyes to her potential to be a change-maker capable of making "a positive difference in people's lives". 

Kate has pursued leadership opportunities since her time at Selwyn House, becoming a Prefect at St. Andrews College as a Year 13 was another life milestone. In her working life Kate has been with Ooh! Media in Melbourne for several years now, where she has grown her skills and earned her current role leading the Campaign Executive Cohort. 

Friendships are key in Kate's life. During her time attending Selwyn House School Kate made strong and enduring friendships that have stayed an important part of her life to this day. These women are currently living all over the world pursuing their passions and careers. Their friendships look a little bit different to the days of meeting up at the local shops, instead deliberate plans are made for international meet-ups when the opportunities arise, and many virtual catch-ups and check-ins in between. 

Kate says that she got to learn from many wonderful teachers while she attended Selwyn House, and is still in touch with them today. 

"They inspired me to become great at what I love. Selwyn House School gave me the courage to believe in myself as a leader and it made me curious about who I was and what I could become when I left school."
